Ehsan Khafipour, PhD

Dr. Khafipour is the Director of Microbiome Research & Tech Support for Cargill Animal Health. In his current role, he directs a multi-species microbiome research to understand the mode of action of our existing products and assists with development of new technologies to help humans as well as food producing, and companion animals live more healthy days. He also provides support in microbiome education and training for a wide range of audience within the organization, and their customers. Ehsan has 18 years of research experience in the areas of microbiome, physiology and metabolic health in both ruminants and monogastric species. Prior to joining Cargill in 2019, he was an Associate Professor at the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, and an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Faculty of Medicine, University of Manitoba, Canada. He served as a scientist at the Children Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba from 2014 to 2018, and as the Western Director at the Canadian Society of Animal Science from 2015 to 2017. Ehsan has published more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters collectively generating over 7000 citations to his work and yielding a H-index of 42 and a M-index of 3. Ehsan is serving as an editorial board member at Scientific Reports, a Nature Research Publishing journal, and as a reviewer for multiple granting agencies. Ehsan obtained his Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Animal Science from Ferdowsi University, Iran, and his PhD in Gut Microbiology from University of Manitoba, Canada. His postdoctoral training focused on System Microbiology with emphasis on microbiomes in humans, experimental models of human diseases, and food producing animals. He is based in Tampa, FL, United States.
