Livestock producers are always on the lookout for novel feed additives that would generate consistent returns and improve their profitability. Weather this is achieved via increased feedstuff utilization (digestibility, absorption, efficiency), improved performances (milk yield, growth rates), or protection of health (resistance and resilience to pathogenic infection, and environmental and management stressors), “biotics” are finding their place in the modern dairy and beef industry.  

This course will cover practical application of prebiotics, probiotics and postboitics in livestock operations, by exploring published results on these supplements efficacy in dairy and beef diets.  

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Attendees will be introduced to the different type of pre-, pro-, and post-biotic used in beef and dairy nutrition. 
  2. Attendees will gain a basic understand of the production results these additives display in both adults and young stocks.
