Stifle Instability: The Current Understanding

  Small Animal II-Surgery

By far the most problematic joints in the canine are the patellofemoral and tibiofemoral articulations of the stifle. The presence of widespread patellar instability and cranial cruciate ligament (CrCL) deficiency is a major cause of canine lameness and gait abnormality. The classification of these conditions in terms of degree of anatomic abnormality, presence of clinical dysfunction and severity of pathology will be discussed along with the latest scientific and clinical research findings in terms of medical management, physical rehabilitation, and surgical therapy. What works, what doesn’t, and why it does not. This session may be contentious and challenging. Consider yourself warned.
