Mastitis Treatment: A Rational Approach in the Face of Uncertainty-Part I

It’s been several years now since the Lab for Udder Health in the Veterinary Diagnostic Lab started using a MALDI-TOF for identification of microorganisms from milk culture. This highly accurate diagnostic instrument has given us new insight into the myriad pathogens that cause mastitis on today’s dairies. There is still much we don’t know, but some trends are clear. In this first session, we will look at mastitis pathogen trends, and discuss the implications for mastitis treatment programs.
