Author's Corner

This is a talk about my creation and production of my sculpture "Moon Glory" a 65 lb. life size bust of Astronaut Dr. Buzz Aldrin . I started the sculpting process by molding directly from the face, shoulders, and hand of Astronaut Aldrin . The resulting artwork is not only a example of fine art , it is also a historic document displaying every pore, every rinkel and even the fingerprints of Buzz Aldrin . I molded his shirt, tie, cufflink and his finger ring in my original sculpture of Buzz . Standing on his hand are two miniatures of Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong in their space suits erecting the flag of the United States as they did on the moon. I have spent more than two hours with Astronaut Aldrin and have a number of comments and quotes from our conversations. I feel honored to not only have met Dr. Aldrin but to have created a sculpture molded from him, is more than a dream come true. The sculpture is cast in bronze and a thousand years from now a child will look upon the face of the sculpture, the face of one of the first humans, from the planet earth, to walk on the moon of the earth .
