Al thought that he retired from Ridgewater College, Willmar, Minnesota in June 2020 after 25 years as the Director of Veterinary Technology Program. But he is back teaching at Ridgewater part-time in the vet tech program and doing all the surgeries. Al and his wife Claudia co-own a twelve-horse stable with another couple in New London, Minnesota and where he is the resident veterinarian. He is the Chairperson of the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Associations Veterinary Technician committee.
