Starting Off on the Right Claw: The Basics of Kitten Behavior and Problem Prevention

Behavior problems, especially feline inappropriate elimination problems are a top reason cats lose their homes in the US. Many problems can be prevented if appropriate care is given during the early, sensitive weeks of a kitten's life. This session walks through the behavioral developmental periods in cats and how each shapes adult behavior. Furthermore, a brief discussion of preventing problems in a number of common aspects of feline behavior will be presented. A special emphasis on undesirable, but normal, behavior will be presented as well as means of providing outlets to prevent these behaviors from becoming a major nuisance.
