Cancer Screening for Dogs: A Veterinary Oncologist's Perspective

  Small Animal I-Oncology

Early detection of cancer is correlated with better outcome for both people and animals. There are several new blood tests for cancer screening in dogs that are available to veterinarians, and this talk will discuss the utility of these cancer screening tests. We will also review results of cancer screening using exam findings, routine bloodwork, and imaging of a large number of healthy, older dogs at risk for cancer development. This session will provide practitioners information to help guide their clients through the discussion of pros and cons of cancer screening in healthy pets.
