How Yoga Philosophy Can Help You Be a Better Veterinarian and Gain More Peace in Your Life

  Preconference

As veterinarians, we are trained to be analytical. This skill is necessary when examining a patient and assessing their radiographs and lab work or analyzing farm data. However, the traits necessary for being a good diagnostician sometimes don't transfer over to personal relationships in a successful way. Veterinarians sometimes succumb to frustration and negative ruminations when they are trying their hardest at work and life. The purpose of yoga is to decrease fluctuations of the mind. This session introduces participants to the Eight Fold Path of Yoga and may ultimately start you on the path to healing. This class will cover yoga philosophy and how the Eight Fold Path of Yoga can be used to quiet your mind. For thousands of years people have struggled with the complexities of the human mind. We are lucky to have the wisdom of ancient Indian sages preserved. We can draw from this knowledge and apply it to own modern lives. After the lecture portion of class, we will do a 30 minute session of movement. Don't worry if you have never done yoga postures before! The movement part of class is geared towards all levels of yoga. Wear comfortable clothes since we will be doing movements at the end of class. Dress in layers. Bring a water bottle and a yoga mat or towel. Earn 3.0 MN credits
