LtCol Phil Zedonek was raised in South Florida and upon graduation from the University of Florida he has commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Signal Corps. During his 21-year career, he held leadership positions from Platoon Leader to Commanding a 600-person Tactical Signal Battalion during Operation Desert Shield/Storm. His major staff assignments include being a Brigade Adjutant for 2,900 soldiers, the Fort Gordon Post Inspector General and a Communication Staff Officer with the White House Communications Agency for Presidents Carter and Reagan while in DC and on 32 Presidential trips around the world. His military awards include the Presidential Service Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, Desert Shield/Storm Campaign Medal and the Liberation of Kuwait Medal. Upon retirement, he established an Army Junior ROTC Program at a local high school in Lakeland, Florida. Additionally, he became active in the Civil Air Patrol where he served in numerous command and staff assignments, including being the Florida Wing Vice Commander, the A5 (Cadet Programs/Aerospace Education), and the current FLWG Chief of Staff.
